Theatre Evaluation
Thursday was
our show day, we all have worked really hard and everyone became closer. We all worked together, helped each other and
put all of our effort in it, we all had our stressful times and fun times but
overall I really enjoyed DNA. DNA showed all of us that we can’t always be the
main character and in the center attention. I enjoyed acting as my character
Lou, Lou was a different character to act with. She is quiet girl that is
confused, unsure and a bit dopey. But overall I think the character Lou was a
cool girl to act with. Also, I think
everyone took their roles very serious and everyone was determined but the main
character I thought that was very patient and calm throughout the whole
rehearsals of DNA is Daniel. I think this because Daniel was quite segregated
from us because the characters and the audience don’t see him until scene three
so this meant that Daniel wasn't in the opening sequence and isn't seen until
scene three where he appears with everyone shocked. Also, I think he was very
patient to watch all of us rehearse but when it came to scene 3 Daniel gave his
best and did a great job of acting as Adam.
What I liked about our setting was that we had a swing and a
bench, just having a swing and a bench showed the audience that the setting was
a park. I particularly really enjoyed our opening sequence because having
‘Pumped Up Kicks’ as the music was perfect and when changing the characters the
music was good, it had a good tempo in it and it made the audience more engaged
with the play. The lyrics went along with our play and it showed the audience
who was who and that there is more than 1 character sharing just one character.
Our costumes I really thought it was clever. With our costumes it made it
easier for the audience to see that the characters are young and still go to
school. I also think that our costumes helped us act better and be more in character;
I know this because I think when we wore our clothes it made it easier for me
to be in role and to understand the character Lou more. I know this by during
my scene I was not only playing with my ring but playing with my uniform; I was
playing with my jacket, tie and skirt. But when I was not wearing the uniform
it was quite tricky because I only had to play with my ring and focus more on
my facial expression and body language. Also, I was more engaged and attached
to the character Lou. The props we used were really good, we used; food and
drinks for Phil, mouthwash for Danny, rings for Lou, hats and jackets for Richard
and Brian etc. We used these props to make the scenes and character’s more
effective and more realistic. Our strengthens
of our performance were the actors, we had really good actors taking their acting
and character extremely serious, this made the performance really strong
because I think if an actor is losing
focus then the audience starts to get really bored and the focus fades away but
we had really good acting taking part. Our weakness of the performance I think
was our setting, I think the setting could have been more realistic to make it
more comfortable for us to be in role and even more engaged in the play. We could
have painted the walls or drew trees on pieces of paper and stick it on the
wall and we could have got a big cardboard and drew a huge tree and place it right
next to the bench to make it more realistic.
Overall I really enjoyed working on DNA. Everyone got along
with each other, every one helped out each other and we all had fun rehearsing
for DNA. I look forward for next term
doing a new topic.
