Lesson 2- 15th Novemeber 2012!

Lesson 2- 15th Novemeber 2012

1) In groups of 5 we had to do a 1 minute version on the play 'DNA'. We did this to make us understand the play more. It helped me more because when we was reading the script it was confusing but working in groups made it less confusing and i understood it more. I noticed that all the pieces were quiet similar, in all the groups the Postman was mentioned but was never seen as in the play the Postman is described and mentioned alot but wasn't seen at all. I think the Postman is very important in the play becuase their is tension with the Posman, in the play all the charaters talk about him but he is never seen this makes the play more intresting making the audience more attached and questioned.

2) In my group we focused on Brian, we did this exercise to make us understand the character more. When reading the script i was confused of Brian's reaction and speaking but when we wrote and spoke about Brian I then understood how his feeling were and what kind of a person he was.

3) I think a Backstory is something that has happend to you or has happend in the past and and has affected you in the present and maybe in the future. In my oppionion i think it is important for actors to understand their character's backstory because if you was to be acting out someone that is lonely, heartbroken and has had a bad past  you wouldn't just show it from the facial expression and body language, the important thing is to be really attached to your character so your acting could be stronger and would makde the audience more entertained. In my group we had a boy, father, and 4 sisters. The father was at home watching T.V whilst the two sister were putting eachothers make up on and the other two sisters were clapping and laughing around, then the boy came in and started talking to his father but his father was being mean, rude and cruel. The sisters were laughing at their brother and not caring about him, we then finsihed it of by one sister says, "Dad i need a new mascara." and the dad says "okay honey" Our finishing scene showed the audience that the boy has a rubbish life and no one cares about him.

Another group did a girl that was trying to socialize with her mum, dad and friends but they were all egnoring her and talking behind her back. The piece was effective because the staging was good so it made us audience more clear of what was going on.

4) In my oppionion i think when your young your parents teach whats right and whats wrong but then when you start to get older you start to know your self of the things around and being responsible for your ractions and behaviour. I also think that if you was to have bad parenting since you was young then i think it could affect your future by not going school, getting into gangs and in trouble wiht the police, whereas, is you was to have good parenting from young age then you are more likely to have a good future.
